How do you actually put files on the SD cards?

omfg!*max mubbles under his breath* just drag and drop them onto the Disk icon in My computer or if using Mac OS X put them on the disk icon

You need some way to connect the card to your computer. Usually this will be a USB card reader of some sort. They're usually very cheap.

heheheh very nooby
take ya mem card, put it in ya pc's me card reader
and goto the said mem cards folder mine is I:
then drag your files into thsi folder
take memcard back out when fin and pop back in ya DS
easy peasy
if you cant do this then get a grown up to do it for you
