    A new one would help
But really try and dismantle it or change some settings

i got a spare one ere, problem is ure like 5000 miles apart from me

probably the laser has been burned out, or the dvd's reading laser downt work

i dont suggest you take it apart though

last thing i should say is open ure computer and check the cables connecting to the drive, maybe a pin could be broken off and not send power to one part of the cd/dvd player...
