What is the difference between a real and fake mem card?

This is because a friend of mine given me a fake memory card as a present.
I know its fake because I read somewhere that if you look at the memory card info and magicgate is not supported,its fake.

fake cards look the part and work but they are slow and dont last as long real ones go on for ages but it is quite hard to tell the difference

Anyway, i have one real and one fake.

The fake is very slow, but it has the right capacity, just take a while to transfer etc.

But homebrew works fine, you will be fine with a fake.

one is real and the other is fake.... of course
the fake ones can usually get burned if it misused and occasionally its slow...
real ones does not.....

Not always true, I have 2 giga pack MS and is says the magicgate is unsupported on them.
