Troble shooting with psp

when i press home on my psp and the home menu comes out and when i press left or right it wont do anything. I can fix it by pushing the switch to hold then up and it starts working. But I try going the MVSPSP emu it runs to the main menu but it wont go in because you have to press X to make it start. i tryed downgrading my psp then upgrating it again but no dice. Any help guys it would be realy appreciated. I'm running 3.03-OE-C

If an emulator has an exit option use it...
some emulators that do it are daedalus, snes, and even homebrew games do it too, their is no way to work around it, just manually restart it.
