    Default PSP modchip speculation

What do you think? Is there enough room in that little case for a Hardware mod?
If it is possible, who's willing to crack open a PSP???

    Your thoughts...

What's the Mod Chip sposed to do?

I imagine all that it could do is circumvent the media check, if there was one, to allow Mini-DVD's to be read, and possibly booted.

I don't have a PSP yet though, so I'm not sure how it works etc.

Why doesnt someone just dump the bios and edit them instead of making a mod chip. They're both outragously hard to do and virtually pointless.

You would hack bios with a modchip.....you would use the chip to bypass security checks in order to boot a hacked bios and run unsigned code. Hopefully we wont have to worry about it if we can find a hole in the U.S. firmware........Some would say just use dumped 1.0 firmware and bingo.....but you would still have to find a way to make the PSP recognize the hacked firmware as an official upgrade.....

I'm sure a software method is the ideal solution like you said, but what if you miss out on some future firmware upgrades (like more media capabilities) or online content because your running a hacked bios? A mod chip would be sweet cause you could just turn it off, like you can many modchips, and boot the retail firmware....
