Make sure your firmware is 1.22, btw. And format your CF card too, that's probably why your files aren't showing up in folders.
You probably have to rename to .nds, not .ds
This is purely a guess though. Keep in mind that most homebrew won't work on the device.

I have a Max Media Dock, and I use Max Media Player for most everything. Music & Video is nice, but I love using the WiFi Lib tester for WarDriving, and packet counting. Save me a lot of laptop power. As for any .nds (yes, it needs to be .nds) files & brews, yes there's a lot less compatability, but usually patching the DLDI will fix it, if not, try renaming it Bootme.nds, and if still not, then try Using the program called Attachment 19195 to patch your roms. It's not mine, and I in no way take credit for it, it's just a pain to find, so here you go.
That attachment is Max Overload, but yes, it's not that bad.
take the cf card out and plug it into your computer
you have to do this or youll get corrupt files every time
