xbox 360 Quake III on its way to Xbox 360

    via pro-g

The ESRB website is often the source of new game release information and it has now revealed plans to release Quake III: Team Arena for Xbox 360. The PC FPS was released back in December 2000 as an expansion to Quake III: Arena, offering new team-focused multiplayer modes and weapons.

With no official confirmation from Activision it is currently thought that the game will be released on Xbox Live Arcade. This won't be the first time Quake III has made it to consoles though, with Quake III: Arena making it to Dreamcast in 2000 and Quake III Revolution appearing on PlayStation 2 in 2001. Remarkably, the Dreamcast game allowed console and PC players to go head-to-head.

According to the ESRB listing, Quake III: Team Arena for Xbox 360 is in development at Pi Studios, which has previously worked on the Call of Duty series.

Sounds sweet. It was great on the Dreamcast, and I know it will be sweet to play over Live.

This should be a lot of fun to play on live. Its a shame the quake 4 multiplayer was never very popular. It is basically quake 3 mp with better graphics. Oh well this will make up for it. I will buy this for sure if its 800 pts or less.

Does XBLA still have limited size downloads? I thought I read somewhere, that they were 50 MB. If so I'd imagine Quake III would be quite large, even if it was just the Team devoted elements.

I hope it does come out. The DC version was cool and it still comes on daily at work at the end of the day for a quick blast.

I too wish Q4 was more popular, and had more maps but I don't think that will happen. Is Q4 popular with PC gamers?

They expanded their size to 150 mb I believe either last month, or the month before that.

The new size limit is 250 mb, quake 3 would fit in there easily with some decent compression.
