Paypal mistakenly credited a 56-year-old man's account with an eye-watering $92 quadrillion.
US-based Chris Reynolds received his monthly statement via email as usual but saw that his ending balance was $92,233,720,368,547,800, reports Philly.com.
However, the online payment service provider soon realised the error of its ways and returned Chris Reynolds' balance back to $0.
Reynolds' brief windfall inspired him to donated $30 to the Democratic slate for Delaware County Council. And now Paypal says it will make a donation to a charity of his choice, as an apology.
"I'm just feeling like a million bucks," Reynolds said. "At first I thought that I owed quadrillions. It was quite a big surprise.
"I was moved to be really generous by good fortune. I'm a very responsible guy - [if I still had the $92 quadrillion] I would pay the national debt down first. Then I would buy the Phillies, if I could get a great price."
PayPal told the BBC: "This was obviously an error and we appreciate that Mr Reynolds understands this was the case."
