which flash carts? help !!

Hi guys.

I am new to NDS. I am thinking of buying NDS Flash Carts (2Gb). I narrowed my choices into 3 products.

DS-Xtreme (DS-X) 16Gb (2GB) $129.95

I heard from my friends that M3 and R4 are the best products for flash carts. However, I personally like DS-X since it is very compact and simple. No need to plug out the SD card and put it in SD card reader for PC file transfer. But, if you see the product features for DS-X (from the website above), it doesn't have these features (compared to M3 or R4):

# Boot clean dump images
# Standard FAT system support .
# Upgradable Firmware ( OS / Bios / Kernel )
# Touch Screen control
# Skinning support
# Auto detect the saves
# Homebrew support , IO lib will release on launch .
# WiFi , DS rumble pack & DS browser Support .

Which one should I get? Any pros and cons? Or other brand is better?

Oh... other noob question, i'm not sure what is "boot clean dump images" , "touch screen control" , "homebrew support" ??

Please help/advice. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Touch screen control is fairly self explanitory. Some products like Supercard require you to scroll through the menu's via the D pad. Where others like the Max Media Dock use the touch screen to navigate through your folders and files requiring a double tap of the stylis to open folders and apps.

Homebrew capable basically says it's able to run .nds files, and in some cases ds.gba files. Every product has different capabilities and in some cases need to be patched to be able to run. You'll have to do some reaserch on the device in question to find it's capabilities and compatibility.

I suggest R4/M3 or SuperCard DS ONE. You can read my review on all 3. DS-X is nice but its not upgradeable. I didnt review the DS-X so I cant give you my opinion on it. But I like the idea of a USB plug on it.

R4/M3 doesnt allow you to choose games with touch screen or navigate folders. You have to use d-pad to scroll. Only thing you use touchpad for is to select Slot-1, Multimedia or Slot-2. I noticed that SuperCard DS-ONE is the only one that lets you select files and games via touch screen.

Stay away from the DS-X. It's overpriced, limited in space, and while its homebrew compatibility was good for the time, the advent of DLDI means that other cards are more supported now.

If you must have internal memory instead of removeable storage, go for one of the series of clone cards that include the MK5 GIGA, the N-Card, the DSLinker, and more. They're all the same basic hardware with just different labels slapped on. Just keep in mind that the DLDI files for these devices are read-only, meaning that you won't be able to write to the card from within homebrew applications.
