"the people who cannot think for themselves have been informed that Sony actually make something that we use for enjoyment"

I don't like Sony as a company, so that means I can't think for myself?

if it wasnt for sony there wouldn't be ur almost full speed psx emulator.... lol and ur custom firmware
Sony tried to make everyone buy a dang PS3 and the PSX games from the PS3 Store before they can play it on PSP. Thats over $600 for a portable PSX.

No, they highly OPPOSE custom firmware. Its thanks to Dark_Alex and coders like him we have the great CFWs.

Sony will massacre a village for a dollar.

Sony has done $#@!ty things in the past and will undoubtedly do $#@!ty things in the future. But they are company, looking to make money. Is that anything new?

Sure they did some stupid moves, but they will shine with the PS3 soon. Once Home hits, I believe all that anger and hatred will fade quickly.

Another thing that Sony lacks is good PR. They NEED a gamer, a persona, someone to be their voice to gamers. Maintaining this 'official business' attitude doesn't help their PR any, and Dave Karraker fits the bill somewhat nicely as far as I have seen, but need someone who is down to earth and can communicate with gamers.

That is why I dislike Sony to a degree (even though I am a happy owner of 2 PSPs and a PS3) is that they try and maintain this serious, business only persona and all it does is hurt them in the long run.

I didn't mean to imply that in any way, what I was trying to say is that there are many metaphorical sheep that claim they hate, or, in this case, suddenly wuv Sony merely because everybody else seems to be doing it. I'm sure you have perfectly reasonable reasons for hating Sony, there are a good few.

    I hate Sony because:
    Both PS2s I've had broke
    The PS2/PS3 were way overhyped
The PSP never reached it's potential without homebrew
    They aren't Sega

Sony isn't just a game company, they are Sony COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT. :P
also Sony has more ballz then any other company. You think they wanted to lose millions of dollars on the PS3? No they had to balls to do it.

and to all you other people:
My other honest belief about the hatred that so many have against Sony is jealousy. You'll find more fanboys (both MS and Nintendo ones) bash Sony for what they're doing. I've had discussions with some on a couple of the emulation boards I frequent, and their arguments are always completely based on theory or completely unfounded. Most of the arguments I hear (concerning PS3) involve stupid random opinions, like:

    1. "We don't need high def. We don't want high def. Sony's stupid for making us pay extra for a machine that can do it if we're not going to use it."

    2. "I don't care if it comes with a BluRay player, it's not fair. I don't want to have to pay extra for player I don't plan to use."

    3. "Pure horsepower isn't enough. Sony doesn't think of their customers. They do the same thing on stronger machines. Look at company x, they have a Wiimote or Xbox Live."

My answers are always something like:

    1. We may not need it now, and we may not even use it now, but the ability to use HD in the future will probably be more handy than most people realize. By the way, that is a general statement, I, for one, already am heavily into HD. The difference in quality between a DVD and a BluRay/HD-DVD is amazing.

    2. When the PS2 shipped with a DVD player, nobody complained, yet it was a rather new format. In a large way, the PS2 helped to get the DVD player as a format pushed alot quicker. Besides, who says movies are the only thing that benefit from a larger storage capacity?

    3. The Wii to me feels like an insult. It's as if Nintendo's said "We know this looks like last generation's stuff. And we know we could have made a Wiimote for the Gamecube if we really wanted to. Instead, we're going to make another console, and we know you will buy it because it will be good enough for you." I'm sorry, but if horsepower and graphics didn't matter, then everybody would still be playing pong.Wink (My reason for using the Wii in this example is the Nintendo fanboys are more apt to attack anything Sony branded than an Xbox fanboy, at least from my experience anyways.)

The bottom line? People can't stand their favorite company getting trumped one generation after another, and some people will do whatever they can (even if it's just to go on some forum to make random insults and brand flaming) to keep their favorite from not making the top of the list. Sadly, most of them don't even realize they achieve nothing for their efforts, and only make a long list of people that hate them in the process.

Sony has (at least in my view) always been the ideal in a consumer electronics company. If it weren't for the Playstation branded products we have right now, I probably wouldn't be interested in gaming at all. I'm very glad to have my PSP and eventually a PS3. I've owned Walkmans and Trinitron Wega TV's. I've had so many different things made by Sony, I couldn't keep track, and I've always been happy with their product. I don't let fanboys make my decisions for me. I'm a gamer, and I know what I want, and nobody covers everything I'm looking for better than Sony.

I agree with what kaio says really, but I am not taking either sides.

Interesting commentary kaio, I for one am in the middle. When something new comes out, I may disagree with it in one way or another and I may not. Just depends really, the only company I really hate for no reason is Microsoft, kind of ironic I use WinXP. For example though, the PS3 is out... I totally disagree with the pricing and all of that really, thats why I choose not to purchase it. Instead I got a Wii for Christmas because it looked interactive and fun. I suppose for me, it's all about what I like at the time that reels me in. I am not ashamed about playing the DS or Wii at my age, meaning I am not about to take Sony's side just because I am older now and no longer 10-14.

I have both the PSP and DS, I love them both the same really. I have a downgraded custom FW PSP, and love it. My DS is (so to speak) flashed basically and I love it as well. Some things I dislike about the PSP that DS has and vice versa. For example, I think that the PSP is lacking compressed games, otherwise there is no backing them up unless you have a large MS. I also think the MS's cost way too much for PSP. However DS has them for a lot less and the games are compressed to fit many just on a 256mb. A thing i dislike about DS that PSP has is internet game wise. PSP has online games such as Socom where you can freely go into any room you desire and speak to anyone. On the other hand, DS has WiFi which isn't bad but you must have FC's to communicate directly with someone specific which I think is really unfair.

So in conclusion, I think systems for me have their upsides and downsides. I usually judge them based on what I personally am looking for, not what my age group, friends, or what other people think.

I mostly dislike sony for things MOSTLY not related to their new console. But bad business practices, and retarded tactics (such as putting experimental hardware in a video game console and slapping a huge price tag on it along with some useless media features no one really needs at the moment) makes them look bad.

The Wii is not the GC. While it has similar hardware, it is certainly more powerful than the GC. In my opinion it is Sony who slaps there name brand on everything and expect their fans to run out and buy it.

As for the graphics comment (and even though the wii is very capable of displaying some good looking stuff), please tell me why I continue to get more enjoyment out of my old emulated games than I do these new games? Fun > Graphics. Period.
