I've also get it running successfully (see post http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=65458). It occassionally crashes which is due, it seems, to large maps. I'm in Sydney.
To be honest, I've had no real problems.
Yeah, mine's up and running as well, and it works well (with the exception of some random crashing). I've made a perth map which I have to redo because I accidentally managed to cut off some of the far north suburbs, and I have a couple of further zoomed out country maps. So far i've only tried google maps (I had a go with a VE map but it would constantly crash the PSP if i tried to open it).
All in all it's a nice little program.

That's about the only issue i am having too. I find that loading a small map first and then loading the large one seems to work sometimes. It's a beta though so I can be forgiving. The map i made of perth works fine so i'm happy.
Hi Guys,
I've just recently tried this homebrew app out and looks quite interesting.
Im currently using the mapThis version 0.499 on custom firmware 3.40oe-a
using a psp-290 gps
not sure on usb drivers as i got it off some other guy on this forum which got it working.
i currently have a map of the sydney cbd area and all loads fine.
GPS state is ON though i am having problems with finding and locking on to satillites.
Im at work at the moment on the top floor of my building (lvl 23) and im not really getting anything.
Any ideas with what the problem might be ?
Any help would be much appreciated![]()
Riceboi,
I'd say it's because you're not outside mate. Mine doesn't lock inside, I don't think anyone's does, but it locked pretty quickly outside running the same software as you.
Others seem to be saying that the Holux GPS devices (as opposed to the PSP-290) seem to detect satellites better, but mine get's a lock in the car most of the time too so I'm not too worried.
thanks Leake,
Probably best i get my a55 outside and go for a walk and let you know how i go![]()
well i finally had a chance to get outside and go for a 1/2 hour walk, during the last 2 minutes i had 8 satallites in view which 3 were fixed and then mapThis crashed
ohwells, at least i know it works![]()
more testing over the next few days![]()
Had a go again lastnight in the car and was able to pick up 10 sats and fix onto 4. GPS mapping is pretty good and spot on, went driving for roughly 1/2hr and only dropped out a couple of times but other than that was pretty stable and didnt crash.
its just ashame we arent able to input a destinations.
does anyone know how to create a 'geodata.dat file to be able input co-ordinates or destinations for Australia or Sydney for that matter ?
at the moment, geodata is available only for usa and canada.
I did some googling and found this site claiming to have geodata for international streets.
http://www.killetsoft.de/p_prei_e.htm#intstreets
Looks like Australia is 750EU
Here is a test file for some cities in Europe.
http://www.killetsoft.de/zip/geodatis.zip
If you are from any of these countries can you please test them and let us know how you went??
This may prove that USA and Canada might not be the only places with GeoData.
If im on the wrong track here please let me know.
Im under the impression that geodata is part of the mapfile which includes lat and long at street level thus allowing mapthis to show us where places are on a map.
Hope this helps us aussies!!!!
Cheers
Eddie
