1997: Interplay releases Redneck Rampage for PC in the US. The artistic merit of the FPS genre peaks. But still, the game's no Hick Quest.

1997: LucasArts releases Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter for PC in the US. Before an add-on is released at a later date, the game doesn't have a strong single player component. Instead, it focuses on multiplayer...which was a bold move considering that this was ten years ago...sure, we were past Prodigy, but it was no Kotakuland.
