Can this version of mapthis be used as a map viewer without any gps and how? I'd like to test it out before going on a hunt for the gps receiver.

Neither of the FAQs mention how the get it working without the gps unit. I think that should be updated in there. Wikibooks entry mentions that mapthis can be used as a simple mapviewer but doesn't specify how. The actual info is buried somewhere in those 50+ page threads, which took me quite a while to read.

The help for this application is scattered all over the place and effort should be put into lowering the entry level, as this is a great application. The wikibook entry is a great start, but perhaps more info about prx's, for example, is appropriate. I'll try to help there as I get more comfortable with the application. Same goes for the GMDL-application.

Anyway, for reference (going to update the wikibook later): If you want to use mapthis application as a simple mapviewer, without a gps unit, you must use the holux/generic version of mapthis, which is included in the package. You don't need any prx's.
