Unbelievable. As if the DS Lite wasn't selling enough. The numbers are climbing even still. For one week, that's a phenomenal amount of units sold.

Seriously, 80% of Japan must have a DS Lite by now.

Over 127,463,611 people live in Japan.

The Nintendo Ds Lite recently broke the 10 million milestone. And consider this, a lot of people have bought multiple DS's. Everytime a new colour comes out, it sells out first day by crazy fans playing their older Ds Lites in line.

My God - 285,123 DS lites have been sold in just one week? That is incredible to to hear, last week (I think), about 120,000 - 130,000 were sold.

yea the Wii would have come out, but games like MGS4 and such would have probably outsold in 1 month all the sales since the launch in 06 .....

Anyways, with over 16 million units sold in Japan, and considering an average of 3 persons per family, we can say there is one DS Lite for each 2,51 family. In a street with 20 houses, they have 8 DS. It's a huge number!

And the DS is catching PS2 in total number of sales in Japan: 16.894.071 x 20.479.463. The difference is 3.585.392. This year alone, were sold 2.888.392 DS and 324.604 PS2. Seems that DS seels in a week what PS2 seels in two months. Of course, it may seem as an weird comparison, but they are the two consoles most sold already in producion.
