At the end of the day not all F2P games are terrible most of them however are designed in a way to make you play more or cough up some cash to make things easier. In a sense they are predominantly skinner boxes (ie push a button to get some candy.. repeat). Or they have some other form of psychological addiction mechanic to get you to keep playing.
There are some out there that are made by people who are interested in making a good game. They just seem few and far between because the market is flooded with the 'crack'-like games that exist just to get you hooked to a point you will start paying for it.
Its not hard to tell them apart, but it is hard to find the wheat amongst all the chaff out there.
