I don't think you're banned from the IRC channel.

If you're using the site's Java IRC client, you may have to try to connect to a different EFnet server from the default one.

Here are two EFnet servers that I would recommend using:
irc.efnet.pl
irc.servercentral.net

You could also try this temporary page:

Yeah efnet has some touchy servers that will ban you for ridiculous reasons (usually things you have no control of). On top of what Mark said I'd also recommend using a real client instead of our java application.

Bans are reset every 24 hours, so if we cared enough to renew it, you'd know it.

I think it's more active around evening time in the US.
