for homebrew you don't have to worry about Dummy files, since most homebrew loads straight into the DC Ram, and doesn't continually read the disc
Are the majority of burned Dreamcast games that are available online already equipped with dummy files? Since the practice of using them seems very important, and not too strenuous, and something that is done while ripping the game, it seems like it'd be silly if dummy files weren't already on them. From what I understand, making a dummy file is something you do along the same time as making a game self-bootable, and if these games that are available online ARE self-bootable, would it not stand to reason that they also contain dummy files? Is there anyway to tell if they do, or does someone have an answer to my question? Thanks.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I'm wondering about backups. If I have a 700 + MB file, is it safe to assume that it already has a dummy applied to it?
