    dude,

the motorcyle thing is scary, because if you get even one drop of water on the psp, it messes up the buttons, and what if some asshole hits a puddle, or turns on his winshield wiper thing and gets the psp all wet? or it starts raining? maybe you could put it in a ziplock baggy or something.......

well the gps still works like it shows as ON on the gps info and it still finds satellites, i guess i just didnt wait long enough to fix.

so if its still finding satellites does it mean its still good?

also is it best to have it pointing straight up at the sky? cuz i dont have a car mount yet so i have it on the dashboard so the gps is sort of pointing like at a 30 degree angle, not straight ahead but not not straight up either, like a little less than in between.

could that be the problem? or is it better to have it pointing more towards that 45 degree range.

sounds like you didnt wait long enough, and I find that it appears to work better for me to have the gps290 at a horizontal level. (all the way back...)

as in folded? or like halfway folder so its perpendicular to the psp

like the psp screen is facing u, and would the gps logo be facing u or facing the sky

also, whats the best prx to use, right no im on 3.10oea and i have the 303 prx's. so which is the best to use for 3.10oea, and where can i find the dl link for it

I usually get my best results with the receiver parallel to the earth.

ah i c, ok i'll try that out. i guess the signals come out the flatter side of the 290 so it works best that way

edit: yeah it seems to work better this way, i get more satellites when the 290 is horizontal so the logo faces the sky. just waiting to see if i get a fix now, just laid the psp down by the window, gettingl like 3 satellites.

also, theres a thing that says SNR and the numbers keep changing its like in the 30's and sometimes 20's, what exactly is that? is that like the signal strength or something?

SNR is signal to noise ratio
"ratio of a signal power to the noise power corrupting the signal"
or a ratio of what is useful information and what is noise

    Better example is;
I am on 1 side of the highway and you are on the other
(or satellites in the sky and psp on the ground)

If there is no traffic, I can scream over to you and you can hear me pretty well
If there is some traffic - you can still hear me but not as well
If there is lots of traffic, you probably can bearly hear me

SNR value changes - like being between buildings versus a open field
Or a clear day versus a rainy day

ok i just tried it out again and it worked. found like 3 sats and it fixed on like 3-4 in about 3-4 minutes. drove around a bit and seemed to work fine, glad its not broken.

and so the higher the SNR the better the signal?

Well i have found out that when i change the config.txt in the mapviewer/system ,,go to the bottom and change this INITLOCATION=8,, i´ve tryed it from 0-8 and 8 was the best and quickest for me

Offcourse i'm going to put my PSP in a waterproof bag or something.

First I just need to make a holder for the PSP on my bike, after that i'll see how to hold the PSP dry
