if your tv supports analog dvi, then an adapter will work. otherwise not.
Hi there,
I bought a new lcd hd-tv but it doesn't have a vga input. It however does have a dvi input. I was wondering if its possible to connect the vga output (on my dreamcast vgabox) to the dvi-input on my tv to get a better picture (scart looks crap). Now I found lotsa dvi2vga adapters but not vga2dvi..There are a few on ebay for like 2-5 dollars like this one: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Adapter-VGA-to-DV...QQcmdZViewItem
The other options are those vga -> dvi scaler boxes but those are like 200bucks lol.
EDIT: here's a better one: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Brand-New-VGA-Fem...QQcmdZViewItem
Now those adapters dont convert the signal (unlike the 200bucks scaler adapters), so its my tv that needs to support a vga signal on the dvi input right?
Any suggestions?

There are 3 types of DVI
* DVI-D (digital only)
* DVI-A (analog only)
* DVI-I (digital & analog)
If your TV has a dvi-i connector then the cheap ones will work as quzar said.
Well I just bought a DVI-D (digital) cable to connect my geforce 6800ultra to my tv and it supports upto 1080p.
When connected it will report the channel as PC (DVI), I can also select PC (RGB) which must be the DVI-A then.
You know those dvi -> vga adapters that ship with your pc video card. Well I used that on my tv, then connected a vga cable from my tv to my vga box, and set the vga box switch to "PC".
I booted up Sonic Adventure 2... ****ing amazing...
Never seen such quality... the picture is just as clear as my xbox360... what a difference with scart...
