the only way i know of is if you put the console on, go to the main menu and select the option 'System Information' or 'Firmware Version' or something like that, it tells you there ...
I would love to hear from shops and all v1 or v1.5 owners to see if theres a way via a serial number on the PSP or other method of easily identyfying v1.0 PSP consoles.

yeah i was hoping a serial or batch number on the box/console might help
Not useful if buying used because one might have upgraded the firmware.Originally Posted by wraggster
Truely the only good method is to boot it and check the bios screen for ver number.

1001 = 1.5 1000 = 1.0Originally Posted by ganon
but like the second post above this says, they might have upgraded it, so this is kinda useless
Yea, on the bottom of the psp there is a barcode. if it ends in 1000 it could still be a v 1.0 but if its 1001 then its definatly 1.5 or higher , but theres no way to tell apart from checking the system information.
Mine has 1000 on the barcode
