    Question USB R/W enabled=?

is it possible to hack the PSP OS to enable and control low level read/write on the USB port ?

    To what end?

I suspect not. I don't understand the intricacies of it, but I know that people have been working, for example, on getting a keyboard hooked up, and USB is not an option for this. This leads me to believe that, no, you can't get low level RW control of the USB port.

for as many ends as there are USB devices- eg memsticks, cameras, scanners etc.
of course, transmit protocols would have
to be public domain, and transmit speeds compatible.

the 1st hardware obstacle is no +5v connection on the port, but a external supply should work for a passive device.
when making the PC link I thought there may be firmware control of handshaking,ie- writable registers.
saw something about a sony camera interface?

wondered also if a wifi to USB converter may be an option
