when sonic uses the rings power he can go at the speed if sound. When he uses the power of the chaos emeralds he turns into super sonic and he can go at the speed of light. I thought that was preatty obvious since hes all glowing and stuff. Hope this anwsers your question snesROX.

Sonic generally doesn't have chaos emeralds though, and they can only be used for a short period of time, am I correct? Of course if there was a fight between the two we would have to put them both in ideal conditions, so sonic would have the Emeralds and would be in Super Sonic form. This does not change the fact that he can't stay in the Super Sonic form for a long period of time.

yes thats true his super form last for the amount of rings he has. If you played sonic riders as supersonic you must have a plentiful suply of rings otherwise he is the worst playibul character. Also the're 7 chaos emeralds which he can keep with him at all times(some sort of hammer space) so he will always have them.
