General games Rockstar respond to Manhunt rejection

    via gamesradar

Rockstar has issued GamesRadar with an official response to today's announcement by the BBFC that it has rejected Manhunt 2 for rating. Here's the statement in full:

"We are disappointed with the recent decision by the British Board of Film Classification to refuse classification of Manhunt 2. While we respect the authority of the classification board and will abide by the rules, we emphatically disagree with this particular decision.

"Manhunt 2 is an entertainment experience for fans of psychological thrillers and horror. The subject matter of this game is in line with other mainstream entertainment choices for adult consumers.

"We respect those who have different opinions about the horror genre and video games as a whole, but we hope they will also consider the opinions of the adult gamers for whom this product is intended. We believe all products should be rated to allow the public to make informed choices about the media and art they wish to consume. The stories in modern video games are as diverse as the stories in books, film and television. The adult consumers who would play this game fully understand that it is fictional interactive entertainment and nothing more."

its just the ability to be more graphical its no different from watching a horror movie

and yes rockstar we understand your intentions of making a game aimed at an adult audiance but really kids are going to get it too and yes you can have ratings and laws that prohibit the distribution of games to minors under 18 i mean hell how many parents bought their kid GTA 3 mine did and i was in 7th grade

anyways kids 3 to 10 are actually the most affected demographic during this time are the kids learning and absorbing knowledge and behaviors

There is not much Difference between Playing a game like Manhunt 2 and watching this twisted gory slaughter movies I.e. Hostel 1 and 2 where poeple are captured and tortured.

Unfortunately there are, or there are just stupid people who want to imitate what the see. Britain has had those problems before, and that's precisely why this game is being banned.

I still think the people who do these acts when they play games are just mentally unstable, which isn't fair to the majority who can take a game like this. Violence hasn't gotten worse because of games it's just another medium that psychopaths use as a reference for killing people. Manhunt is such an awesome game with suspense and complicated puzzles, trying to figure out the next kill. It's too bad that countries would do this to such a unique game.
