i donīt know why but it seems that psp290 was more precise than my new holux 1000, it marks the wrong place, near the right place but wrong, and it keeps changing all the time as if i was walking even though iīm not in movement. Any idea?, is it happening to you too? the antena marks 4 and 5 bars . Thanks a lot!!!!!.

That is a common problem with many GPS when you are stationery or at walking speed. You should not have this problem at higher speed.

    Hello:

I am looking to purchase the Holux M1000. But before I do, have a couple of questions.

    1. How does this unit compare to:
    HOLUX GPSlim240:
    HOLUX GPSlim236:
    HOLUX GR-231:
    HOLUX GR-230:

    2. The serial cable w/ the resistor that supports the models listed will also work with the M1000?

    3. Where can you purchase the ready made cable?

You can purchase the ready made cable at moby.cn. I'm not sure how reliable that site is though...

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Just got my cable from moby.cn and it works fine. It actually got here in like a week so shipping is pretty quick from bejing.

Okay, after getting the holux m1000 (ebay) and cable (pc-mobile.net), I have to honestly say that it works way better than the psp-290. I got a lock on in my house within the first 10 seconds on a rainy day (5 bars)! I wish that I had known about this before I got the psp-290. Sometimes the psp-290 takes minutes to lock on (with only 2 or 3 bars) or never at all.

    My setup:
    Firmware: 3.52 M33-2
    MapThis! Version: .499
    Kernel: 3.52
    Folder: GAME150

The Holux m1000 and cable total cost: $65
    Total cost for psp-290: $68

Conclusion: You're getting a way better deal with the Holux m1000.
