people buy modified stuff all the time - your cell phone, for example, could well use technologies that have apeared in past mobiles, like the same processors, the same batteries, the same motherboard, thesame software - trust me - most major phone companies are notorious for this (especially sony ericsson)

so it's nothing new people re-using old tech and all. but if you really think about it, most of the ps3's parts are new (well, maybe not the graphics card, from nvidia), and should in theory cost like £1000. but it doesn't. sony are hardly really making a profit from this rig, and a proce drop would just be suicide

Sony's most likely spinning things so as to not slow down PS3 sales before the inevitable cut. They said pretty much the same things, that they had no 'plans as of now' and have 'announced nothing' about having to drop the price of the PSP.

    Later that month...

I understand your point how ever I disagree with it , you'll often find that the aesthetics, lifestyle promoted and functions of a mobile phone are the main things that sell mobile phones .

The internal hardware isn't something people pay attention to ( unless they're looking for a smartphone) so re-using porccessors, motherboard and other internal hardware makes sense.

However in the Gaming industry it's all about specs , any real gamer would choose pure gaming power over over aesthetics , hype and visual apeal ( keep in mind that nintendo Wii fanboys are an exception).

In all honesty I believe the Wii is a modified Gamecube , it's probably about twice as powerfull with a modification on the controller ports for a motion sensing pad.

Actually the Wii isn't even twice as powerful, its about 1.5 times as powerful as the Gamecube, taking into consideration CPU clock speed alone.

I find it unconscionable that Nintendo would opt to use a 700mhz processor in a gaming console when we have been using Gigahertz processors for the last 4 years...
