Default Skype for PSP? It'high time!

It looks like Voice IP technologies are skyrocketing and one day we will see Skype runnig on PSP.
I hope it will be done by Deniska:thumbup: - not Sonyska!

So the idea is not a new one and since February we know that a refernce to Skype has been found decrypted version of vshmain.prx from PSP firmware revision v3.10. While there is nothing functionality , rumors are mounting that just as POPS and GPS PRX's were found in previous firmwars, the same process could be going on in order to bring Skype to the PSP.

On July 2, Jajah started it's service for IPhone
    http://blog.jajah.com/ which looks very similar.

    So
Actually how many people are interested in having a PSPhone? or PSPkype?
Will it be done by adding a GSM block to PSP or by using WiFi for VoiceIP?

Is it really possible to make it by soft or some hardware changes needed?

    Any ideas?

    Look at it:
PSP Offer VOIP from BT Owners of Sony's playstation Portable (PSP) handheld console will soon be able to make voice and video calls over a wireless internet connection.
Using a soon-to be-released camera and microphone, gamers will be able to call other PSP owners and some BT phones.

Developers cannot make any applications without any hardware available.

The only hardware I see available is the Chotto Cam, which also has a mic. May be one can work round that.

If there is a third party microhpone available at much cheaper price then it may be easier and more viable to develope such application.

The PSP headset would work. However, you can also make your own adapter:
    http://pspupdates.qj.net/Do-it-Yours...g/49/aid/12520

You will still need the PSP remote (PSP-120) for it to work though.

http://pspupdates.qj.net/PSP-Memo-Re...g/49/aid/64996 has a sample program that can detect if remote/headphones/microphone are plugged in, and it can record sound and play that back (to/from RAM).

So then the main thing that has to be done is to get that data to another program over WiFi

I've no idea if this can be done, but I was planning on taking a look at it in September (after my holidays).

But it has no microphone input!

I do not think it is possible to have a microphone through the headphone/remote jack.

The Chotto camera showed that it is possible to have a mic through the USB port and this is probably the only way.

Direct headphone jack won't work, remote will work. The remote has an extra pin, so you can use a four-pin cable instead of the standard three-pin one.

I've tested it myself with that PSP Memo Recorder, and it really works just fine.

Besides, games like Syphon Filter and Socom already have team speak, using the remote and headset.
