DS has decided it doesnt want to turn on. Battery light comes on for charging but turning the console on does nothing.

Is there a hidden reset button or something that i need to press?

Sounds like a power fuse got blown to prevent damage to the internal electronics. You could replace the fuse, bypass the fuse (though you'd lose the protection the fuse offered), or send it back to Nintendo for repair.
