I understand what you're saying about 3.40 OE offering a bit more, but this has happened before in the past between OE upgrades. Sometimes ways of doing things change as Sony changes the firmware.
Unfortunately region free has NEVER worked.
I recovered back to 1.50
And then went up to 3.40 OE-A
There must have been a pops compatibility upgrade somewhere between 3.10 and 3.40
that made it possible to play some of the PS1 games that I couldnt using 3.02pops.
I have been using 3.10+Popsloader for a long time now and don't like flashing if I really don't have too.
Anyways I am much happier with 3.40OEA running everything I want it too.
I'll wait for 3.51 M33 to mature a bit before going back up.

Ok i upgraded succesfully but there are some problems. Mainly with the cxmb plugin installed. When enabled i can't go to save data ututilly or usb mode. It will freeze the psp. When i disable the plugin they work fine. I think im going to go back to 3.40oe until this new cf evolves a bit more.
Quick question. In order to go back to 3.40oe do i have to recover back to 1.5 1st?? Or can i just run the 3.40oe installer from the 3.51m33 firmware?
does the region coding only affect UMD movies or games as well?
Well, that doesn't really make a lot of sense does it. Imagine if you bought the new slim and light PSP only to find out that it actually weighs more than the current PSP and the video out doesn't work at all. Would you be happy that the box says otherwise and that the firmware has the options for displaying the video on a TV?
Of course not.
Now on the topic of dumping it and converting it to mp4. Why the hell would I buy a video UMD if I could just rip my dvd and watch it from my memory stick. The idea is better quality and no space taken on my memory stick. Apart from that, have you ever tried to rip a video from a UMD? I have. It's not easy (not all videos will be recognized by the ripping software) and then even after you get one to rip, there is no codec support for the UMD video stream, so there is no way to watch it, let alone try to transcode it.
I did want someone to reply, but I was hoping for something a little more thought out and positive. Still, I have to thank you for at least noticing. THANKS!
cali: Yes, only movies. Games all work.
Ok that's what I thought cause I have chotto shot edit (region code 2) and bleach heat the soul (region code 3) and they both work on my US psp
Im gonna stick with Dark Alex's Firmware as I think it is the best out their at the moment.
