Very nice guide, sigged.
Interesting, I wasn't aware of custom firmware's that can only be emulated. I guess we could add them so long as in the title we clearly state it can only be used with Devhook & MPH Firmware Launcher. It would give the ability’s of a custom firmware for people not willing to take the risk of updating.
On another note Chameleon I've added your information on the 3.03/3.10 OE Mix-up Custom Firmware. Excellent work!
I will try to get around to updating the thread's format a little regarding the changes to the issue’s lists. As well as review the custom firmware’s we currently have listed, checking for any missing or incorrect information. Thanks for all your help!
I've just updated this thread with a TON of new information! Here's a list of all the new stuff I've added..
1. Provided download links to each custom firmware revision.
2. I've changed my definition of what a custom firmware expansion is.. "Any custom firmware that needs to be installed over another custom firmware will now be considered a custom firmware expansion. A custom firmware that can be installed on it's own will be considered a custom firmware in it's own right." -I've decided to follow by these rules because just about every custom firmware available is based on some version of Dark_Alex's Custom Firmware's.![]()
3. Updated information for many custom firmwares.
4. Other small fixes to this thread.
That’s about it!
You need to add 3.52 M33-2:
Download: http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/att...3&d=1185860208Changes:
- Document.dat of psx games were broken due to some important changes in popsman.prx and now is fixed.
Plus, now document.dat does not need the same gameid as game which is played.
- The compatibility issue with irshell loading psx games in usbhost/nethost has been solved.
- Changes in recovery:
1. Removed the advanced config option "use isofs on UMD inserted", as it is not useful now.
2. Added "Format flash1 and restore settings" in Advanced.
3. Added speeds 20 and 100.
4. When in usb mode inside recovery, it is impossible to turn PSP off.
- The chineses and korean languages did not work in XMB, because they crashed homebrew and recovery.
The issue has been fixed, but korean font is not there, so you need to take it with psardumper from official updater, and put it in flash0:/font/kr0.pgf.
- M33 driver: fixed SBK07, now it work.
With this release we also a plugin to load pops from 3.40, 3.51, and 3.52.
The plugin works in 3.51 M33 and 3.52 M33. In 3.51 M33 you won't see option "3.51", and in 3.52 M33
you won't see option "3.52" (use original from flash for same firmware).
Instructions: copy seplugins to the root of the memory stick. Extract the following prx of a firmware: /kd/popsman.prx, /kd/pops.prx, /vsh/modules/libpspvmc.prx and /vsh/modules/pafmini.prx and copy them to /seplugins/popsloader/ with names like popsman3XX, pops3XX.prx, libpspvmc3XX.prx, pafmini3XX.prx, where XX is 40, 51, or 52.
Activate the plugin in recovery and done! First time you run a game, it will let you choose pops version.
Next time will remember configuration for each game; press R to change it.
The plugin doesn't apply to psn games.
Team M33
Thanks V3NOM for this most excellent guide, just getting back into PSP homebrew after a 1.5 year break and I knew nothing about custom firmwares until read this! Just gotta wait for the old PSP battery to recharge, 1.5 years on a self will drain every last joule out of one apparently![]()
this should be stickied somewhere
Your comment is appreciated.![]()
@Everyone-
I've updated this reference once again thanks to the help of burrito, chameleon, and of course squidman! There help was enough to get this reference updated in time before I leave on vacation! So what are the new changes?
1. Current with Custom Firmware's
I have squidman reviewing all this information now but we are pretty sure that with all the new updates custom firmwares have been receiving we feel we're currently up to date with all information on each custom firmware.
2. Reference Format
I’ve been changing various little things to provide an overall easier to read and find information to the user. As well as setting some rules which this reference will go by such as definition of an expansion custom firmware, emulated custom firmware est.
3. Useless Information
We have been going through and getting rid of any information that may be outdated or is now useless due to it being fixed est. We will leave any issues/information that may only have a quick fix. An example of this would certain issues with themes for custom firmware’s that need to be converted to the appropriate firmware.
4. Homebrew Heaven
Homebrew Heaven is now also hosting a version of this reference for people that need information and/or help. The site is new but it shows the signs of what a great community. So check it out for yourself and sign up today! For those interested check it out here.. http://homebrewheaven.net/portal.php ( Or you could just click the Homebrew Heaven userbar in my sigThanks Mr. Shadow!)
simply wow
Well I'm glad to see that people appreciate the work we have put into this. As a little spoiler for things to come I have other plans for this reference..![]()
