complete noob needing help

my dad got a psp, and it turned out that it has a custom firmware installed, 3.40 OE-A, and was wondering how i can get 3.40 OE-B onto my 2.50 psp. it also has a theme change and was wondering how to change this also. thanks:thumbup: (BTW im not twelve or anything lol, i do actually know what im doing lol, just not on the psp)

You need to downgrade! search this site for a downgrader!

NO DONT UPDATE PAST A DOWNGRADABLE FIRMWARE

FYI all firmwares up to 3.5 can be downgraded, you need to buy a copy of lumines. and download the right stuff, whatever you do DO NOT UPGRADE TO 3.51 !!! EVER !!!

If you have 2.50 update to 2.71 HERE

Create a folder called UPDATE in the GAME folder on your PSP memory stick then place that download in there.

check whether you have a TA-082 board here:

change of plan, we sw3apped psps since this one is from japan, and has a better screen. now i find out that the firmware has a slight problem. when i try to play a music file, and either stop it with x, or move around the control menu (trialgle) the whole psp crashes. do i need to reflash? this one, and the 2.5 (now 3.03) are both old and i think that they are ta-081, cant tell specifically which one cause that link you gave lead me to a downgrader for 2.71. if i do need to reflash, is the 3.51 based m33 firmware any good and how do i do it? oh, and how do i change the theme?

This happens with OE firmware alot!

sorry, but where do i find this? i looked and only found little bits. can i get the 3.40 OE-B this way?
also, the jap console refuses to play uk umd movies (alien is all we have, i never liked umd movies but they turned out to be quite decent). i read that the region free umd playback is part of the firmware, is this true and will it be fixed by re-doing the update?

i saw it on a website up for download, but, i guess it could be rogue bricker or something. oh well. where is a reliable source for the 3.40 OE-A firmware upgrade to run from game? as i said im very new
