why not just create a hybrid map at the zoom level you like of your golf course of choice? if high res sat images are available for your area/golf course it seems like it would do what you would like it to do.

you can gps-align any "proportional" image map with MapCruncher software and import resulting tiles in to gmdl tool, which would make a map, suatble for mapThis! (You do need to know gps coordinates of at least 3 points on your image map - so you may need to stop by a few holes and record gps readings)

Search gmdl thread for "MapCruncher" - there should be a tutorial somethere

Didn't the Japanese version of the new Hot Shots Golf have support for Japanese GPS coordinates?

I think so, but my cat, Nibbles, scratched the heck out of my UMD. She was trying to catch a fly or something.
No cat treats for her. -_-
