I agree, it's illegal and all, but I don't care enough to stop. I don't emulate GBA games, and I won't until the next game boy comes out and the GBA is out of commission. I only play emulated games when I can't get them normally.

    Lookit me! I have standards!!

so basically you are saying that because it benefits sony it is ok? What if sony were to release an adapter that let you plug in gba carts to your psp? Nintendo would SUE THEIR ASSES OFF. Why? because they own the patent to gba emulation on a handheld device. The only difference here is that they can't really stop this in a court because once it's out it can't be stopped. If Nintendo wanted to, they could cite the same patent and take whoever it is that did this to court.

either way, i've said my piece. nobody has refuted the fact that it is illegal, and has only given the "who cares?" and "it doesn't matter." defenses. I'm not gonna lock this because it was posted by wraggster, but if any other mod here really wants to keep this clean and legal, they'll lock it.

    Cool

Well while this is kind of cool that they made it, but I will hold off on even trying to get it working for a while. Apparently it needs alot of work, and besides I have a GBA so what do I need a handheld GBA emulator for? I'm much more interested in the other older game system EMU's and of course the MAME

its far more complicated than that. homebrew and emulators are completely legal so long as no one is using a stolen SDK for the psp or any system (which is why most xbox stuff is kind of illegal) then people can do whatever. This case, as I said, is more complicated, as nintendo has some kind of wacky patent on GBA emulation on handheld systems.

Anyways, sony dosnt really have anything at all to do with this. This is between the person(s) who ported VBA to the PSP and Nintendo.

q- its more or less you fault we are on this topic. your the one that brought it up.. hey I have an idea! why we are all legal huggly buddies lets ban lantus for useing the stolen xbox SDK!

    Exclamation

Ahhh! I can't seem to get any emulaters to work im running on 1.5. Do i need to download something else? I also keep getting the 80020001 error but i can't seem to find my manual someone please help! (Im kinda new to the emu stuff) (Sorry if it sounds like im complaining) And a lot of u are right about sony, i mean they're not trying very hard to shut down emu sites and if nintendo was out of commision they wouldn't have to worry about them very much (not that they actually worry anyway)

Here is my perspective on EMU:

Since the release of Xploit for PSP 1.5, a bigger slice of the general psp owners has access to literally thousands of games on their PSP.

Before being able to run EMUs on PSP, it usual sat at home as a paper weight. I'm a broke ass bitch and I gotta really love a game to buy it and so far there are only maybe 3 games that appeals to me, and they've already bored me to death after playing it so many times. The fact that I did get all these homebrews running on my psp made a HUGE difference on how I looked at my psp. I don't think my PSP has seen more action then the last 2 days since I got the thing...all my friends that didn't get a PSP has a reason to, I can play tetris and Mike Tyson's punch out on my psp how cool is that!!

A friend of mine basically has every ****ing nintendo game known to man, his collection of SNES games are somewhere in the 9 gb range and his NES collection has about 10,000 games.
If I gave him my psp, I dont think he'll have time to sleep and/or return my psp.

If I were nintendo, I'd pay people to write me some emu for DS, cause the only reason to get one is now being theaten by homebrews like VBA. (sure they have good DS games but compare to all those classic NES, GB, SNES games?)

(btw, the only reason I would ever want DS is cause of being able to play GBA games)

there really is no competition from the way I see it. As development moves forward and getting EMU to run isnt so "rocket science" for the average joe, Nintendo prob will have to "be destroying the emu sites left and right".

Lets not forget that its only been 4 months since the US release...the speed of this dev community for PSP is scary...very, very scary.

    Default Appease Your Morals

Legality: I find it difficult to believe that anyone would try to enforce restrictions on the creation of non-harmful software such as emulators. It is much more likely that the theft of the actual roms is to be targeted. Look how many rom hosts encounter legal issues, and the fact that emulation sites have been up for years. Even VBA.

Morality: If you want to be moral, buy the game, and the original system, before you emulate it. Assuming they are still available. If they are not, I guess that automatically makes it moral

hmm it would seam as nintendo has already thought of this ... the revolution will be able to download "every nintendo game known to man" and its supppose to be able to wirelessly link to the revolution for file exchanging and such..... so i think they're going to make it so you can download "every nintendo game known to man" and put it on you DS, and maybe you will be able to put N64 games on it, since it has the capabilities... i'd sooo love to play F-Zero X on my nintendo ds, wirelessly with like 20 ppl *drools*

actually the reason they care (i think) is because if ppl have these emu's n such, they wont buy sony's games, and also, those hackers who went to college for 10 years to learn everything about computers can download video games, and play them off their memory sticks... so like... 20 ppl all over the worls are sending eachother's games to eachother, and sony is losing about 200$... oH nO!!! lol, and of course sony has to ruin every good thing, the new firmware only makes it so you cant play emu's nothing much else.... but when they release the usb keyboard, im going to HAVE to fownload the new firmware... unless (win?)___psp or psp0s comes out with usb keyboard support (that would be frikkan awsome!!!) then i would keep my 1.5 firmware....
