General games ESRB rates Manhunt 2 "Mature"

    ESRB

The past months, discussions about the Manhunt 2 banning in the US and the UK have floured the Internet. However, if you take a look at the ESRB ratings list, you can see that Manhunt 2 is no longer rated Adults Only, but Mature in the US of A. This means that the game should be released on October 31th, just like planned.

Some people say that everything was planned to advertise for the game, while others think the developers had to remove something from the game to get it approved. What do you think?

Bah, anyone who thinks this was planned needs to put their tinfoil hats back on. Yes, it was planned, to an extent. They obviously wanted the attention put on their game for it being more 'extreme' than anything else out there. It just so happened to come back and bit them in the ass. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo refuse to publish games with an AO rating, and that meant they couldn't publish the game anywhere. Saying "we had to tone it down, sorry" is bad press, not good press. I doubt they'll have very high sales on this, unless their ad campaign is about "Pushing the edge" of the M rating or something like that.

It should also be noted that "Censors in Britain and Ireland have also banned the game from being sold, but Take-Two did not say whether it had submitted the reworked game for review in those countries." That was taken from Reuters
