help with flash MX

i am trying to make a "thing" where if you click on the button it chnages and stays like that, i have had no success so far, any help would be appreciated on how to do this.

I dunno exactly what you mean, but do you mean a button that takes you to a new scene & stops, like what I've done here?:

no i mean the button changes to a different looking button and stays like that forever
