Default PSP Slim TV Out Game Compatibility and Recommendations

Hey guys, I can confirm that everything is outputing to tvout perfectly. I can also confirm that you can switch the brightness to level 4 on everything.

Once again TV out is working for everything! (With component anyway) I spent a full day at Circuit City yesturday and the day before playing with various tv's but one stuck out as the best for our purposes, and has also gotten pretty good reviews online

Its also one of the cheapest:

    VIZIO VX32L @ 599 shipped.
    I also have a coupon good till I think 9/17/07 for $15 off: vnazkssa3e

It has zoom feature on the remote + and -, and screenmode button to cycle through them. Most of the tv's that had this functionality were a pain in the but to get to in the menus and not practical while playing a game to switch it like that. This one is basically, 3 button presses for any emu and its ready fullscreen (or at least close to fullscreen, as mostly everything is not widescreen naturally)

Here are a couple sample shots (some from the $549.99 Olevia TV which had good zoom but crappy quality picture):

Megaman in NesterJ on the Olevia (keep in mind the VIZIO has the same zoom capability I just forgot to take the emu pics on the VIZIO):

Metroid Zero Mission from gpSP on Olevia (same deal here):

Hexaxis XXI to show homebrew compat in output and the size you can expect including regular PSP games like lumines:

Final Fantasy Tactics PS1, blown up to fill the whole screen, only clipping a tiny bit at the top and bottom:

I will also note, one of the nice touches on the VIZIO is that when zoomed in (such as in FFT) you can pan the image up down left or right. If you were for instance playing a game that the dialog boxes are at the extreme top, you can force the screen to clip only at the bottom! Just a nice touch that the majority of tv's i tested failed to implement. The guys at CC were trying to sell me some panasonic tv that airbrushed everything and had really crappy zoom capability but was $300 more!

That does look ace hooked up to a big screen.

I've always said that I'll stick with my phat psp but this is one big reason for me to get a slim. ...better start saving the pennies now. lol

Keep in mind guys, the output of the tv is because it has zoom / screen aspect options on the remote, some tv's don't have zoom capability. Basically if it doesn't the game would be viewed in the center of the screen with LOTS of black around the edges.

Example (this is on almost the same tv at walmart that doesn't have zoom capability - hence this is as big as a ps1 game will get on screen):

Notice this VIZIO is all black at the bottom, this model doesn't support zoom.

RemoteJoy though slows down the game speed. In recording Hexaxis Update 8.1, it ran slower than normal. There was a video of Jeanne D'arc somewhere online that had simlilar problems. It run PERFECT on tvout so far, with less ghosting than on the psp screen (which makes me happy - seeing how that has been my only gripe with both models of the psp) I will note that the slim has less ghosting though.

Only to a PC screen though, right?

I don't understand why people keep likening the new TV-out to remote joy... it is two completely different things. TV-out is plug-and-play, wherever you are, to any modern TV. With Remote Joy, you are tethered to your PC or laptop.

it is compared to remote joy because most modern TVs have a PC video port, and it is very easy to simply link up your psp to the PC or laptop and display that on a larger screen.

Remote Joy performance seems to vary according to PC spec and PSP compatibility. But it is a viable solution, i have run Wipeout Pure through my laptop to my 40in with no problems in the past, though my XP vm has since broken itself and i am yet to fix it.

I have a duo core laptop and running remotejoy definately put a slow down on the game running, I think the psp has to do some processing by sending the output through usb, thus slowing things down (basically maybe instead of 333 it becomes more like 222 + 111 utilized for output!) I could be wrong though.

our Panasonic Veira 52" or 51" (cant remember which one) has 3 zoom options. im yet to get some av cables but by the looks of it it should show close to full screen.
