umm... did they take the pandora stuff for this product? or is it their own?
News from Noobz
You've probably already seen the news that Datel are selling a clone of the Pandora battery. You may even have been excited by their marketing information:
"Special TOOL version of our PSP battery works in exactly the same way as a standard SONY PSP battery but has the ability to put your PSP into service mode for custom firmware use."
You might have thought that this means that you no longer need a homebrew PSP to be able to get started with Pandora. Unfortunately, you'd be wrong. And Datel don't seem to be in any hurry to put you right.
This product is useful, in that it allows you to skip the step of needing a homebrew PSP to modify an existing battery. It even comes in a nice fire engine red colour, so you don't get it confused with your other batteries. And it's not a bad price. But you still need a homebrew PSP to create the files to place on the memory stick. Without the special memory stick, Pandora is useless. And no-one is able to legally give you the files required to prepare that stick without a homebrew PSP.
When you buy the TOOL battery, you get just the battery. No instructions, no indication that you even need a memory stick, let alone how to prepare it. Datel seem to be happy to let the buyer make the mistake of thinking this is all they need, and they don't even help you figure things out once you realise your mistake. I think that's pretty crappy, and relying on the community to do their customer support for them is rotten.

OR you could buy a USB memory stick interface for $3 + S&H off of eBay.

Let's face it, if you don't already have a homebrew capable PSP and you don't know anyone who does, getting the battery from Datel is probably the cheapest and most straightforward way to fix the problem.

I haven't quit gpSP, just put it on hiatus for a while.
Games like Super Mario Advance 3, Riviera and Sword of Mana actually DO work in gpSP, believe it or not. If they don't work for you then you're using the faulty BIOS. Don't argue with me, it's true; the sooner you accept this the sooner you can move on.
Wow people are stupid, they need to use some common sense.
I had a kid on another forum yell at me for half an hour after i told him he had been screwede over and he needed a PSP that could run homebrew.
Buyer Beware anyone?
But what Noobz are trying to say in this post is that you CANT get the memorystick files to run legally without having a homebrew PSP, datel DO NOT tell you anything about the product, they are just cashing in on the countless number of people who want to get their PSP playing homebrew.
this is a real bad publicity stunt for Datel to pull, I shall be avoiding ALL of their products in future.
Mike..
Actually you can use this with one PSP on official FW. I did my official 3.52 with it.
To get the memory card, you need to download an easy installer called "Pandora's Box" by "Dudewarez"
Edit: Link removed
Any way it creates your Magic Mem Stick, all you do is follow the instructions on your PC.
Then just slap in your datel battery and your off.
Ive done a total of 4 PSPs (one slim) and it worked like a charm every time.
It even installs the files needed to install M33 3.52-4 (for a slim you have to copy in a couple of extra files)
But it still lets you put a psp into cfw use whether its slim or original right? and if you can use cfw, then you can use homebrew right? are you saying that you can use the datel tool battery to downgrade, but you cant downgrade it cause u need the mem stick files?
If you can use custom firmware with this, then whats the prob? If you put cfw on your psp, then you have a HEN'ed psp. So then you can create pandora right? When I first read that piece of news, I thought you guys were saying that you cant restore the psp if its bricked using just the tool, but now it seems like your saying that the downgradable methods that need the mem stick files wont work with teh tool battery. Someone please clarify. Im just confused right now.
But it still lets you put a psp into cfw use whether its slim or original right? - YES
and if you can use cfw, then you can use homebrew right? - YES
are you saying that you can use the datel tool battery to downgrade, but you cant downgrade it cause u need the mem stick files? - YES, to create the memory stick files you need EITHER a PSP with CFW OR the dudewarez thing above. The first one I did was on Sony 3.52 and I didnt have any PSPs with CFW at that point
So then you can create pandora right? - You dont need to create Pandora if you have the Datel Tool battery
I thought you guys were saying that you cant restore the psp if its bricked using just the tool - you still need the mem stick to unbrick I think
LOL!
Why would anyone expect anything more from Datel?
Short of an amazing new hack that surely would have made big news
How would Datel pull off this new PSP service mode trick?
@lamentofking
What is still so confusing about all this?

Mr.Dude has a better version of the Memory stick creator.
It includes the patch that doesn't require the nand-dump to be renamed.
It copies k-xploit and the 3.52-M33 update to the memstick as well.
Its a great lazy persons app for creating the Memory stick.

Fuk Datel and thier products. This is bull$#@!. Making money off team c+d and the noobz. DCEmu isn't datel's customer service page. If you bought from datel and need help, go look elsewhere
