From wikipedia. The irony is his latest game got released the day before.

Such a shame. My uncle knew him and might be at his funeral, he's devastated. His son was killed along with a friend as well.

Of course he's dead...

If you mean that my uncle knew him then I have a framed picture of the them from 1995 at Australia. McRae helped my uncle get into racing (He was in the pits for various F1 teams and is currently touring Red Bull's cars round various motor shows around the world).

Police confirmed the next day that McRae, his five year old son Johnny, and two family friends, Graeme Duncan and Johnny's six year old friend Ben Porcelli, died in the crash.

Woah, quite a few people who has meant something greatly to their professions have died recently.

Colin McRae was one of the greatest off-roaders (reason why he had his name licensed on codemasters games and other things).
