Perhaps they are trying to warn us... Remember how Metal Gear Solid 2 tried to increase our appreciation for Solid Snake by making us watch him through the eyes of Raiden? Maybe Super Mario Galaxy will force the players to appreciate Mario more by forcing us to play as "Mr. Gay". In other words...Luigi.
