Ive also heard that there are alternate endings. I dont know if they were just talking about the legendary ending, or if it means there are more.

Most games usually have more than one ending, it gives a game more replay value

nah, the ending is the same.
just the part that proves master cheif is alive is after the credits. which only happens on legendary.

theres acually alot of differences in the cut sceens of both halo 2 and 3 for legendary.
mainly vocals, for example on normal the first cut sceen sagent johnson says somthing about "they must follow the smell of a real man"
and and legendary he says "they gotta be following da smell of a badass"
