That PSX ISO>EBOOT converter produces a file which is usable with POPS, the official SONY PSX emulator which runs pretty damn well. In order to use POPS, you'll have to update to a custom firmware based on a recent-ish official firmware revision (Sony implemented the emulator in 3.00 but it didn't appear in custom firmware until 3.02 OE-B, if I recall correctly). I can recommend 3.52 M33-4. It is pretty recent and doesn't have some of the drawbacks that 3.71 M33 has, such as lack of 1.50 kernel support for homebrew that doesn't run on the 3.XX kernel.

To get to a custom firmware, you'll have to downgrade to 1.5 first. This is quite easy to do, as I see you have 2.6 at the moment. It's quite safe to update to 2.71 with the official SONY update EBOOT and then downgrade using this downgrader combined with the official 1.5 firmware EBOOT. From here, you can update to 3.52 M33-1, and then to M33-4. I won't bother walking you through updating to the custom firmware as adequate documentation can be found in threads on these forums or readme files.

P.S. I acquire all my official firmware update EBOOTs from this site, so if you decide to go through with it, you should have everything you need to get to 2.71, 1.5 and a custom firmware in that order, as long as you search for a guide to update to 3.52 M33.
