Does one exist? I have Sony's official firmware 3.71 on my new fat psp and am wondering if there is a way to downgrade without using the Pandoras battery method.

Yeah, right with Pandora you can downgrade any PSP. You only need another PSP, that can use homebrew.

Find the firmware version of each PSP and then read this guide which well tell you your options.
