Default Introducing U3D - Collaboration wanted

    Hi,

As this is my first post, hope this is the correct thread to do it... Thanks for all you people keeping the DC alive!!

For some years i have been messing around about a project though as a "new kind" of shoot'em-up, which I partially developed some time ago. The project right now needs some organization and there is still a lot of work remaining for just one person work, but anyway ill introduce you:

    U3D, a brief introduction:

    - An innovative Shoot'em-up game in 3D.
    - Intuitive control close to the arcade classics.
    - Dive and take part in (REALLY) great spaces combats.

(Well the current functional demo isnt that great, but i think it explains some of this ideas quite clear... ).

Basically the idea is a remix of some games i adore:
    - Tempest
    - Border Down,
    - Rez

The demo is developed/programmed in DirectX/Windows in C++, but im working on a new version with opengl and (hope to be) DC-compatible... Im developing the game engine based on the Kos-tiki environment using kgl and open-source tools...

Check the proptotype for windows/DX9 here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/uthreed/

Its still very clumsy, but hope that the idea is clear to play with...

I would like to share ideas, opinions, or anything to clear my thoughs... I have been working on the project for some time as a lone developer, but right now, i have reached a point where i have lost the focus, but i would like to keep on with it... it would be great to hear opinions from everyone, if someone is interested on sharing programming or artistic ideas i would like to hear also...

    Regards

    @B^)>

kidchaos2k7: Welcome to DCEmu UK. I tested the tech demo and it looks promising.

Maybe you should get in contact with Heinrich Tillack and ask him in regards to his upcoming Holly3D engine ?

    ...or just use KGL-X:

Also, Chui has been working on KGL-X for a while:

Hope these links are of any help. Good luck on your project

    Default of course

    Hi again,

Yes im working on porting all the code to the DC:

    - Im using the Tiki/Kos environment, it allows me to test the code on windows first and then test the same build on the DC almost without modifying the code... And it has some great techniques like the scene graph and the handling of jpg/ogg resources within the code...

    - The firsts tests with kgl are working fine and im still trying to learn how to take the best of vertex arrays and implement a lightmap manager.... This is where im most stuck now...

    - I didnt explain it before, but the idea is, just like on the windows demo, that all the level handling will be based on XML files (exported models and level layout)... but i dont have too much expertise on 3d modelling and i have some ideas for the layout of the level which i have already done but in a very clumsy way...

I know chui for his gp32 work,... As i always have been working alone on the idea i dont know how to share the ideas on the development,...

Hey puch666, i tested an event music manager on the old version game, but i still have to redo all the work, hope i can get some day working...

    Regards to everyone...
