Final Fantasy VII Help

I have converted my Final Fantasy VII Disc 1 (PAL) so it would play on the PSP. I have firmware 3.40 OE-A installed.

Well the problem I'm having is that I've just reached the boss on the lift part of the game (bout 5 hours in I think - don't know if its relevant) and the graphics keep scrambling when I start a battle and it seems to be doing it earlier each time I load up and try again. I get like red/greeny patches covering the screen, but the game doesn't crash it still runs.

It would be a great help if someone would be able to help me fix this.

For me, it just sorta stopped happening for me after the bomb setting part of the first disk. I think its because I turned off fast load mode.
