Burning fuzes on either USB or the Serail wont Brick your PSP

I would recommend that you use a resistor just to be on the safe side and remember the saying: Better being safe than sorry

1&3) It does not refer to any specific make or model. You should be able to use any plug that fits in to your psp's serial-audio socket.
