Default DS 'Better Than PSP' Says Survey

Whilst Sony's impressive marketing campaign has placed the PSP in the forefront of customer's minds (it was discussed twice as frequently as the DS), this has not fed through to customer satisfaction says research conducted by WaveMetrix, based on customer opinion expressed in online discussion.

Customers found that the DS offered superior value due to the substantial price advantage over the PSP.

“We expected that Nintendo would perform well due to their extensive experience in handheld gaming”, said Anders Schonberg, CEO of WaveMetrix, “however we didn’t anticipate how much ground Sony need to make up to meet consumer expectations.”

WaveMetrix’ unique approach combines proprietary WaveRunner 2.0 technology and industry expert analysts. This combination allows collection and interpretation of customer opinion in any language and almost any topic. The findings are summarised into clear, actionable insights allowing WaveMetrix clients to instantly understand the issues and implications.

A full copy of the report is available for download via the WaveMetrix website, www.wavemetrix.com.

I have the PSP and both my boys have the DS. The reason for this is that there was no way I was going to buy them a nice shiny PSP for £180 when I can get a DS (which is better protected and easier to clean etc) for half the price.

I would imagine a lot of parents will be the same.

I am sure the DS has many good points but after comparing the screens with my PSP there is no way I would ever swap!

    Everyone to their own though

I'm guessing its not only the price, but the fact that a lot of people know Nintendo has been the "hand-held king" for many decades. The PSP however, is produced by a company that can't be compared in thier market for hand-held gaming, because there isn't one.

To make it simple, people already knew that Nintendo was good at making hand-helds and didn't want to take a chance with Sony's sexy new device. Only this time, Nintendo screwed em' over with yet another 2d/Crappy 3D hand-held, and then there is the Nintendo Micro which is another way to make money for Nintendo and to screw people over.

In my opinion, Nintendo should stop worrying about "innovations" and start worrying about pure quality.

Before I bought my PSP I played the DS, and to be honest with you I didn't find it that great. That's why I got the PSP.
