great news to have the doom 64 mod working.
ill have to learn how to merge the wads, still on my list, right now im still messing with quake pak mods.

so did you get the goldeneye one working?
you should get a better memory stick and try it out.

I managed to merge the goldeneye level wad with the doom2 wad and that works but im having trouble merging the graphics/sound wad. There seems to be some errors in the code for the graphics/sound wad version that im working with and im also having trouble downloading a different version (ftp server isnt recognising the download file name so its either been deleted or wrong name).

I shouldn't need a better memory stick though i could 'shrink' the wad that i end up with and save alot of space :P

    I will keep trying...

Default Working Doom wads and how to merge wad files for Doom-Psp

I have put together a tutorial on using WinTex for anyone who wants to learn how to merge wad files and use the modded Doom wad file on their PSP. See the attached file...

    Download WinTex 5.0: http://zephyr.doomrepublic.com/files/wintex50.zip

Also I have compiled a list of wads that I have tested and work on my PSP

    My PSP Specs
    -firmware version 1.5
-32Mb pro duo memory stick (the one you get with the value pack)
    -PSPDOOM version 0.04u1

These wads I have tested don't need to be merged with the doom2.wad but need to be named doom2.wad and put in your \PSP\GAME\DOOM-PSP\WADS directory.

    Working Wads without merging:

-Duke3d, only one level of duke madness 8/10

-Half Life, looks nice but doesn't truly represent half life's greatness 8/10

-Quake2, good wad with sound but the PSP-QUAKE port is better 7/10

-Heretic, excellent quality wad this one really suprised me 8/10

These next wads I have merged with doom2.wad. If your not sure on how this is done read my tutorial I have attached to this post.

    Working merged wads:

-Doom64, Classic Doom style WOW! 10/10

-Fistfull of Doom, western mod absolutly brilliant, Download it Now! 10/10

-Simpsons, another excelent mod if your a fan get it now! 10/10

-Pinochestien, mix of wolfenstien and doom (In Spanish!) suprizingly good 10/10 (download came with Legacy port so you can play on your PC too)

-Fallout, updates the graphics of Doom2, excellent wad 9/10

-Otakon, crazy anime madness plays OK 8/10

-DragonBallZ, strange mod this one but if your a fan its not bad 7/10

-Sub Zero, another weird mod but it plays OK 7/10

-Star Wars, this was OK no new levels though 7/10

-Zombie, have you seen Dawn of the Dead? well this is sort of like it! dodgy graphics though 7/10

-Aliens, dodgy graphics and hard (even on easy) maps are complicated 7/10

I have also tried a few custom level wads and they worked perfectly by merging them with Doom2.wad

I am currently working on how to get GoldenEye64 mod to work with this version of Doom-PSP and I will post when I have an answer.

    Where do I get Wads?
Most of the wads listed here are total conversions and can be downloaded from doom wad station:

    http://www.doomwadstation.com/main/tc.html
(Check out their 'megawads' page for different level wads)

great thanks for the tutorial, i wish i had the time time to try them right now.
i got fallout working without merging it, just renamed it.

you named a few that i have wanted to try so im glad ill get to when i get the chance.
between these and the quake mods theres many many hours of free gameplay to be had.

i feel bad for the people that dont have a 1.5, poor bastards.
anyways thanx, if you get any more working let us know,
maybe you could try some of the quake ones after your done with doom.

Me too, but it also works if you merge it with other wads, like the Doom64 wad.

You can merge other wads also (i.e. Duke3d + Fistful of Doom) but you may get some unnexpected results!

    More working Wads

-HexenHereticDoom, its a mix of all three games and its really well done (Better than Heretic mod I posted above) 9/10

-Star Trek, not bad but the sound effects get annoying after a while. Get if your a fan 7/10

After I figure out Golden Eye I will give some of the Quake mods a try, pity theres no sound support for Quake-Psp yet (maybe the next version...)

Ive tried to merge the Doom2 and Doom64 WADs over and over and I keep getting the "The Game could not be started. (80020001)." message everytime I try to play it.

    Your Welcome...

After hours and hours of mindless editing of the GoldenEye wad I have come to the conclusion that it is not compatible with this version of Doom-Psp (I have read that it works on Doom-Psp version 2) The error I am getting is that certain sprites don't have their corresponding rotations which is completley ridiculous because they do anyway unless you want to rewrite the entire set of sprites for this wad just get the Doom-Psp version 2 and run it on that!

Another working wad (You Must Merge This with a Doom wad)
-Army of Darkness, complicated to set up this one, it comes with many seperate wads (not sure why?) and needs some maps reworked, anyway Plays OK replaces everything (sprites, sound, levels, textures ect...) but the lack of enemies can be frustrating huge maps though... 7/10

I had enough of modding doom-psp now as you can see from posts above i've been extremley busy (Had some miserable weather over the weekend down here in NZ) So im moving on to modding Quake now...

Heh, I got DOom64 wad to work now.

You all should play the real Doom64 for Nintendo64...it kicked ass!
