    Default Show us your desktop.

Take a pic of your desktop and show us how it looks. Give specs, neat info, os you are using, etc.

    *edit*

Back to Gnome in Linux Mint 4.0, glass icons and compiz/beryl goodness. Kate is my girlfriend, who abducted my laptop while I was gone.

Mine is a pretty basic Windows XP set-up.

    Could be better...

Yeah, my desktop is pretty standard too...
Okay, it doesn't really look like XP, but it still is.(I don't like this Playmobil-style)
What I regard as "special" is that I don't have really many icons on my desktop.
By the way, my wallpaper is pretty new, until last week I had a cool "A Scanner Darkly"-Wallpaper for the last 4 months or so...

    Beautiful wallpapers guys.

AnonymousD, What series is your wallpaper based on? My gf would love that.

I'm sorry you all got stuck with windows though (joke, windows isn't that bad, 3rd party and open source helps you guys a lot).

Forgot to mention, the desktop environment I'm using is still in beta testing. Unlike gnome, kde, xfce, etc, my usb storage gets mounted in weirdo locations and can't be detected with certain programs (like my ipod and Amarok), unless I directly link to those mount points and said program goes "Oh shiz, there it is. Mounted. Want song transfer?" I'm thinking about going with Mint 4.0 shortly (possibly with xfce (speed or gnome (organization) again).

Nice, I'll build something on that. Why did you choose Vista ultimate instead of anything else?

So I hear Windows Vista isn't as all cracked up as it's supposed to be huh? I was thinking of getting the Ultimate Edition (full package, not not OS upgrade one) but if it's not so good, then maybe blowing some £300 would be a bad idea then.

Anyway, here's my current desktop as follows, obviously me being yet another Windows XP user:

I like the nice and simple looks of xp, the 3d stuff of vista isn't all that great to me. Throw compiz/beryl on any linux distro and that'll show you true great effects.
