    Why does Sony NOT want homebrew to be run on the PSP? If they did, it wouldn't be necessary to hack the software to get it to run.

    I don't think homebrew is the issue here, it's the entire process of loading games from the memory stick. If you can store and play games from the memory stick, what's to stop you from downloading rips of UMD games and playing them from your memory stick if there's sufficent space to store them?

    They're afraid that it will lead to widescale piracy. It would be nice if there was a way to protect the PSP from piracy and encourage homebrew development at the same time, but at the current time there isn't.

    piracy always messes with the good things we get.

    I mean just look at the music situation.

    P2P is dead. It's a real shame huh.
