Default UK Charts: Madagascar Not Out at the top

It was a good first innings for Codemasters this week as Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 batted its way up to the top of the Xbox chart in the UK, but Activision's film licensed Madagascar held on to the All-Format top spot.

Activision's focus on summer movie licenses continued to pay dividends elsewhere as Fantastic Four jumped five places to number three, leapfrogging Medal Of Honor: European Assault (no change at four, Destroy All Humans (down three to five), Cricket 2005 (no change at six), and Juiced (down four to seven).

Wrapping up the rest of this week's Top 10, GTA San Andreas drops one place to number eight, Lego Star Wars remains at number nine while the critically acclaimed God of War drops five places to number ten, continuing its slightly disappointing showing in terms of UK sales.

Elsewhere in a largely static chart, Take Two notched up a new entry at No.16 (No.13 PS2 chart) with release of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory; yet another summer release that dovetails perfectly with the release of a blockbuster movie. The release of the Xbox version of Sid Meier's Pirates pushed the swashbuckling title back up to No.38 in the All Formats (No.7 Xbox),

In terms of how the recent crop of new releases has fared, Tekken 5 continued to punch its weight at No.14, Batman Begins dropped four places to No.23,

Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack dipped nine places to No.26, Killer 7 disappointingly sank thirteen places to No.28, while Formula One also dropped thirteen places to No.29.

Next week is unlikely to see many significant changes near the top of the chart, with Worms 4 Mayhem being the only major new release appearing in stores this week.

With Madagascar it really does have bad ratings down here and didnt really get a good place in the rankings by Tommy Telareco. The things that made this game and i can agree totally like the movie the story is amazing but the really big thing that lacks is the graphics in the game. The characters look great but the background graphics was really lacking and they probably could have done more more to the background graphics.

The controls were a little sluggish. Camera views were kind of horrible and sometimes would make you see through walls. The fun factor was pretty good but they could have done more for this game. Overall great for the children but Tom didnt give this point if the camera and controls are bad it would kind of make it kind of hard depending on how easy this game is. The game how ever does have cool mini games which can i believe be unlocked through out the game 2 of them being mini golf and shuffle board.

The Shuffle board mini game got a bad rating cause its true how many people or even including children play something like that and will the child even understand how to play that type of game. They also hinted about pixars releases this one got a better rating then others but still felt like pixar just through whatever they could get to the children.

I cant remember the rating i think Tom gave the game a 6.5 and i cant remember his buddies name but he gave it a 7.5 or 8.0 thinking the children would totally love this game. I would go with Tom on this one folks. (EDIT) i also have to add that there is no cutscenes from the movie

    Eric
