Default What's the best way to upgrade from 3.10 OE to the latest version??

Haven't been on the psp for a while.

I have 3.10 OE (dark alex) on my psp at the minute but would like to upgrade it to 3.71 (and 3.80 when that comes out).

Is there a guide anywhere you can point me to so i can find out how to upgrade my current version?

    Thanks in advance.

no guide, just read the readmes and follow the chain

    3.10OE-->3.52M33-->3.52M33-4-->3.71M33-->3.71M33-4

then install 1.50 kernel addon v2

Is it really necessary to go in that order?

I'm at the same deal. The PSP was given to me by a friend a while back, and I haven't really messed with it much.

At 3.10 OE-A' for software. Can't play newer games etc so I'm looking to upgrade.

Do we need to do each of those updates in that same order? Or is there one to get us to a newer firmware that will atleast play newer games like EA sports games.

My psp is a 1001 as well if that helps.

so no need to downgrade then? All I know is that mine is at 3.10 OE-A' and PSP 1001. Totally new to this so just double checking.

Would you happen to still have the files etc that you used?

Can someone help me find the 3.52M33-->3.52M33-4-->3.71M33-->3.71M33-4 files? And the 1.50 kernel addon v2?

I'm totally new at this, but if I can find the files and if they have readme's, I'm pretty sure I can work my way through it.

    Thanks

Nevermind! I got it all working. So far so good. I do have 1 question. What files / updates can I remove from the memory card or is it good to just leave them all on there?

Here are the files you will need:

    3.52 M33-4 installation:

    3.52 M33 / 3.52 M33-4 patch.
    3.52 firmware update.
    1.50 firmware update.

    3.71 M33-4 installation:

    3.71 M33 / 3.71 M33-4 patch.
    3.71 firmware update.
    1.50 kernel addon v2.
    1.50 firmware update.

You must install 3.52 M33 with the -4 patch before you can go to higher custom firmwares. This installation should be pretty straight-forward if you read the readme. This can be done straight from 3.10 OE-A'. Just watch out to put the update folders in the /PSP/GAME150/ folder on the memory stick if that isn't mentioned there. No kernel addon is required for this firmware.

After you have installed 3.52 M33 and applied the patch, I would recommend just to have that installed for a little while, experiment a little and get the feel of it before upgrading to 3.71 M33 with the -4 patch, since this installation is a bit more complicated (at the 1.50 kernel addon v2, the 1.50 firmware update is supposed to lie in the root of the memory stick, named 150.PBP.

I don't recommend upgrading a PSP-100x to 3.80 M33, both since it's quite new and buggy, and because it has no 1.50 kernel support yet. This will come later.

    Good luck!

After complete installation of a custom firmware, you can remove all of its files from the memory stick. In fact, it's recommended that you do (through the PSP's XMB (main menu). The installed files will still be in the PSP's internal flash.
